During NBA All-Star Weekend 2019, Women Within and Nike partnered again to bring together a panel of women to share their experiences and advice with creative women of all backgrounds.
Rox Brown, a stylist, Melody Ehansi, a designer and store-owner, and Ivy Sole, a musician and record-label owner, each discussed the progression of their careers and the pressure of being female in male-driven industries.
Following the panel, style influencers Sasha Elina and Alani Figueroa hosted a vision board workshop, combining dreams with action and accountability.

Samantha Jo Alanso has made a career of uplifting others and serving her community. One of her many projects is Sock Sammy Jo, a tie-dye sock collection that grew from donating socks to those in need.
For Women Within Series VII, we were pleased to speak with Samantha about the importance of giving back and using one’s talents to uplift others. In addition to Sock Sammy Jo, Samatha created a stationary line XO SammyJo with short, empowering messages that are perfect for any occasion.
The Series VII activation included an anklet making workshop, where participants were encouraged to choose colors and patterns that carry significance. Attendees also used XO SammyJo stationary to write letters to their future selves, taking inspiration from the themes of calling, creativity, and communication. Six months after the event, each note was mailed to its author for a surprise message of encouragement.

Embrace the Women Within was developed to curate an inclusive community where sisterhood could grow beyond the confines of cliques and inner circles. Our Series promotes community through hands-on workshops, inspirational speakers, and creating an environment for women to develop meaningful connections.
We strive to create a safe haven for women to connect, socialize, and be their authentic selves. The Series attracts women from all backgrounds and encourages exposure to new ideas and experiences.
In-depth panels with community and industry leaders have included Melody Ehsani, Rox Brown, Melissa Chanel, and Samantha Jo Alonso. Past collaborators include Nike, Jordan Brand, A Ma Maniere, Social Status, and CNKDaily; featuring activations including custom plant potting, vision board creation, yoga and essential oil mixing, socks and hoodie customization, and writing notes to future-selves.
